Windy Or What!

Well not sure what's it like in your part of the world but on the Norfolk Broads the winds have been gathering pace since Tuesday resulting in gusts up to 50mph in exposed places, several of which my clients and I have been in, definitely not the weather for false hair!!

Fishing's still a bit unpredictable with again lures doing the business, best fish over the last few days has been this 18lb'er caught on a surface lure by me, customers returning several fish consistently each day now with a lot being caught surface fishing. Looking forward to the weather calming down a bit for the weekend although at the moment it's thundering and lightning over the Broads, but hey it will clear and the sun will come out - well that's what the met office said and we all know how accurate they are don't we.............

Another Hot One

Despite lots of the UK suffering cloud and rain last week here in the Norfolk Broads were still being blessed with some superb sunshine and warm, muggy temperatures, great if your on holiday not quite so good if your fishing!

Lures are still the number one producer for us down on the Broads at the moment with most days resulting in between 7 & 10 fish boated up to low doubles, spinner baits, tigertails and springdawgs being the most consistent producers. Baits are resulting in Pike but they are pretty slow and with the high river temperatures Eels are again starting to be somewhat of a problem, the best Eel so far though going a respectful 4lb 8oz - good if your an Eel angler! Bream and Roach fishing is still pretty good with the all the broadland rivers producing good catches both day and night.

With the weather forecast for the coming week to see temperatures increase to the upper 20's with bright sunshine prospects for easy fishing are poor, if your coming up to Norfolk then be prepared for hard work and the results will be there - the fish haven't gone anywhere - have they???????

Rainy Days & Mondays!!!

Well another day getting soaking wet and it's a Monday too......hurrah
Anyway over the last 2 days fifteen fish to the boat pushing up to 14lb all on lures, with another dozen or so takes that were either short or we missed so not bad considering the changeable weather. Best of all though I've actually managed to get a picture of Lea "The Helmetman" with a fish, shy creature that he is, it's taken me years to get this so pretty pleased thanks to a bit of pushing from his son Gareth for making him do it....lol

New Season Now Underway And It's A Wet One!!!

Well finally June 16th arrived and we've hit the Norfolk river systems full of enthusasim, the first four days were pretty wet with heavy thunderstorms but the fishing was good with the best fish going just under 20lb on a lure. Then the weather changed to high pressure, hot sun and very little breeze and the fish started to hide up! lures have without doubt proved to be the better bet during this hot weather, especially as the Eels loved the deadbaits, and most days resulted in several fish to the boat up to low doubles. Now were back to wet and windy weather with some pretty heavy thunderstorms thrown in for good measure, fishing's a bit tricky but the fish are still coming out again better to lures than baits, however James from Ipswich did manage a Summer cracker on a sardine just to prove this theory wrong.

The weather people (bless them) tell us that the weather is going to settle down a bit in the coming week so hopefully after the rivers have had a good flush through they'll start to come on song again.

One last thing for all of those of you who are concerned yes the Landrover is back on the road and still holding up all the traffic that is behind it...lol
